With 36 years of teaching and directing experience, Cheryl holds TEA certification in Secondary Theater Arts, Speech, and English. She has directed over 200 productions and created a nationally recognized Theater Program in a 5A Title I school. Cheryl is a TTAO certified UIL One Act Play Contest Manager and has coached students to award-winning success in UIL and National Forensic League contests.
Her accolades include an Honorable Mention for the 2017 Tony Award for Theatre Education, the 2016-2017 Broadway at the Bass Chair for Teaching Excellence in Performing Arts Theatre and Dance, and the 2007-2008 Live Theatre League Theater Arts Education Award.
